Battlefield 6’s first trailer announces global armed conflict

Electronic Arts has unveiled the first trailer for Battlefield 6, the new installment in the popular first-person shooter series. The trailer is mostly cinematic in nature and reveals the plot of the massive international conflict at the heart of the story.
The story centers on the fight against the Pax Armata faction
The trailer begins with an address by the President of the United States condemning the surprise attack by the mercenary group known as Pax Armata. This is followed by spectacular scenes of military hardware, combat clashes and the trademark destruction that has become a hallmark of the series. The action is set in New York City, as well as mountainous and desert regions – likely the first hints of the game’s maps.
According to the video description and press release, Pax Armata is an organization made up of former NATO members aimed at fighting the alliance itself and its allies. The resulting confrontation escalates into a full-scale war. While no story campaign has been officially announced yet, the video suggests that the characters and locations introduced will play an important role in the game.
Multiplayer will be revealed in July
The trailer ends with the announcement that a full multiplayer mode presentation will take place on July 31. EA’s press office has confirmed that the broadcast will start at 2:30pm US Eastern Time (9:30pm Moscow time). Viewers will be shown new maps and game modes. Battlefield 6’s exact release date and beta start date have not been revealed yet.
For EA, the launch of Battlefield 6 is of strategic importance. The previous game, Battlefield 2042, received critical acclaim and the mobile version was canceled. As a result, the company has consolidated the efforts of four internal studios – DICE, Ripple Effect, Motive, and Criterion – into a single division, Battlefield Studios.
As Ars Technica notes, EA plans to bring up to 100 million players to the project. That’s an ambitious goal given the highly competitive online shooter genre. Battlefield 6 will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
