Discord is now available on PS5

Sony is starting to roll out the ability for PS5 players to join Discord directly from the console. This means that players will no longer have to rely on a PC or mobile app to start a connection.

To join a chat room from the PS5, players will need to select the Discord tab in Game Base in the console’s control center and select the server or DM group they want to join. The latest PS5 system update, which introduces new Discord and child account features, is already available.

Players will also receive a notification on their PS5 console when they are approached by another Discord user, allowing them to join immediately. Sony said the feature «will be rolled out gradually over the coming weeks».

Starting next week, players will also be able to share their PlayStation Network profile on any messaging app or social network. Players will be able to generate a link or QR code to share using the PS5 or the PlayStation App. Once it’s opened, recipients will be able to add the sender as a friend the next time they log in to the PlayStation Network.
