CD Projekt will make the new The Witcher game unlike the trilogy

CD Projekt said it has completed work on «defining a new framework» for Project Sirius. Last October, the company said it had «an innovative approach to The Witcher» universe being developed at The Molasses Flood, the American studio that created Flame in the Flood, which it acquired in 2021.

«The game will be set in the universe of The Witcher, but it differs from our past releases in that it is aimed at a much broader audience» —CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiczynski said then. «Sirius will provide both single-player and multiplayer gameplay».

In March, however, the company said it had changed its mind after reassessing the game’s scope and commercial potential. In an official statement, the company told investors it had made an impairment provision related to costs incurred to develop the project. CD Projekt said Thursday that it has now set a new direction for the project’s development.
