It works simply &#8212 just point the binoculars at the bird, check the clarity of the image and press a button. The system will then display the creature’s name on the screen, pulling data from Merlin’s extensive Bird ID database of more than 9,000 different species.

The AX Visio uses object-recognition technology and a built-in neural processor. The binoculars themselves have a multiple of 10x magnification and each objective lens is 32 millimeters in diameter. The field of view at a distance of 1 km is 112 meters. The image sensor has a resolution of 13 megapixels. The smart binoculars will last for 15 hours of continuous use in normal use and two hours in intensive mode.

The binoculars also allow you to take photos and videos with the 13-megapixel, 1080p camera. You can then wirelessly transfer the footage to the Swarovski Optik Outdoor app on your smartphone. The device also has built-in GPS, which helps the artificial intelligence determine the species of animal or bird based on location.

Those interested can pre-order the AX Visio now for $4,799 ($425k).
