Sipeed LicheePocket 4A: portable console with RISC processor and 16 GB RAM

Sipeed has launched a new portable gaming console, the LicheePocket 4A, featuring a RISC-V processor. Not only does it feature the atypical Sipeed LM4A single-chip system, but it also offers a wide range of interfaces and support for emulation of popular gaming platforms.
The LicheePocket 4A’s display is 7 inches diagonal and has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. “At the heart of the console is Imagination Technologies’ BXM-4-64 “embedded” Imagination Technologies BXM-4-64, which is based on Alibaba’s TH1520 (4-core C910) processor, manufactured using 12nm technology. The system also supports OpenGL 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 and Vulkan 1.2 graphics interfaces, and is equipped with an NPU that promises 4 TOPS (INT8) performance.

Depending on the configuration, the console can be equipped with 8GB or 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM coupled with 128GB eMMC storage. A 6,000mAh battery is installed to ensure the device’s battery life. The list of interfaces includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4, two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, one USB 2.0 Type-C port, a microSD card slot and a 5-megapixel camera with OmniVision OV5693 sensor.

The LicheePocket 4A’s plastic and aluminum body measures 25x11x3 cm and weighs 630 grams. It runs on either Debian or Android. Among the announced features of the console is emulation of game platforms: FC, SFC, GB, GBC, GBA, MD, PS1, PSP and NDS.
