Rode has introduced the Rodecaster Video S compact console for streamers and podcasters

Rode has introduced a new model of its versatile production console — the Rodecaster Video S. It’s a smaller, more affordable version of the flagship Rodecaster Video, designed specifically for streamers, podcasters, and content creators.

In contrast to the professional version designed for multi-camera studios, the Rodecaster Video S offers simplified functionality, bringing the price down to $500.

The device is noticeably smaller and lighter, and its body is now made of plastic instead of metal — a decision dictated by the fact that most users will use the console stationary. The number of inputs and control buttons has also been reduced: instead of four HDMI inputs and two outputs, three inputs and one output are now available. USB-C ports have become fewer — only one universal. In addition, the device has two headphone outputs and 24GB of internal memory instead of the usual microSD card slot.

Rodecaster Video S is already available for pre-order, with first shipments starting in December, depending on region.
