PlayStation Portal will be released on Nov. 15

Sony has announced a release date for its new PlayStation Portal device. A tweet from the official PlayStation account says the device will go on sale «in select markets» on Nov. 15.

The handheld console is currently available for pre-order on PlayStation Direct in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Starting Sept. 29, it will be available for pre-order from «other select retailers» in those countries, as well as Japan and Canada. The console will cost $199.99 when it goes on sale Nov. 15.

The portable console is purely a remote play device and does not provide access to cloud-based game streaming on PlayStation Plus Premium. Therefore, players must have PS5 hardware for PlayStation Portal to work as intended.
