Pebble Time 2 production kicks off March 9

Pebble Time 2 production kicks off March 9

rePebble has announced the start date for mass production of the Pebble Time 2: March 9. The company plans to manufacture up to 500 units per day, with the first shipments slated for early April. All pre-orders are expected to be fulfilled by early June.

Alongside the classic Time 2, rePebble is eyeing production of the round-faced Pebble Round 2 and the wearable smart ring Index 01. All three devices have passed various testing stages: Time 2 and Index 01 have completed their final inspections, while Round 2 is still wrapping up firmware tweaks and waterproof certification before entering production.

Pebble Time 2 production timeline and delivery schedule

The Pebble Time 2 has reached the pre-production phase, with several hundred prototypes assembled, identified issues fixed, and lab tests completed. The watch can withstand pressure up to 3 atmospheres, making it splash- and swim-proof but not suitable for saunas or hot showers. Production begins March 9, targeting up to 500 units per day. The first shipments will roll out in early April, with all pre-orders expected to be delivered by early June.

What’s next for Pebble Round 2 and Index 01

The Pebble Round 2, featuring a circular design, is hardware-ready, but the team is finalizing firmware development and plans to conduct last waterproofing tests after the Chinese New Year holidays. Production is scheduled for the end of May. The Index 01 smart ring has achieved IPX8 certification and passed underwater testing up to 1 meter, though its production timeline depends on how things progress with the Time 2.

  • Pebble Time 2: in pre-production, waterproof up to 3 atm, production from March 9, up to 500 units/day, shipments start early April.
  • Pebble Round 2: hardware ready, firmware being finalized, production planned for late May.
  • Index 01: IPX8 rated (up to 1 m), $10 ring size calculator or 3D printable file available; production dependent on Time 2’s rollout.

The Index 01 targets the “smart ring” category, already populated by established players like Oura. These rings compete with fitness bands and smartwatches for users interested in compact devices for sleep and activity tracking. Such products demand highly accurate sensors and strong battery life, while any production hiccups can quickly erode early user trust.

Pebble’s comeback isn’t just about nostalgia: the original Pebble watches stood out with their simple interface and power-efficient E-ink displays. After Fitbit acquired the brand in 2016, Pebble hardware disappeared from the market. Now, rePebble is betting on reconnecting with fans who value long battery life and device autonomy.

The biggest challenge for rePebble remains scaling production and managing logistics. Although 500 units per day is a solid start, delays in component deliveries or production line issues could easily push back promised shipping dates-a familiar story for many crowdfunded and independent wearable makers.

Keep an eye on the first production run next quarter: it will reveal if the team can meet their volume and quality targets, and it’ll be a key indicator of whether Pebble’s full accessory lineup will make a market comeback or stay a niche project for dedicated fans.
