MWC 2024: Tecno presents new technologies and products

Smartphone and smart device brand TECNO today unveiled new products and technologies at its annual MWC Barcelona 2024 show, including the new POVA 6 Pro 5G smartphone, the Dynamic 1 robotic dog, and the Pocket Go device, the industry’s first augmented reality glasses compatible with a portable Windows gaming console. The brand will also showcase PolarAce image processing technology, and Universal Tone, a skin tone color map to improve color reproduction in photography, based on a large international study.

New TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G | Energy Without Borders

TECNO POVA 6 Pro 5G stands out with a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor, an ultra-capable 6000 mAh battery with 70W fast charging, and plenty of 256GB + 12GB internal and RAM storage expandable up to 24GB. Despite the high-capacity battery, the smartphone is only 7.88mm thick and weighs 195g, making it one of the thinnest and most compact devices in its segment.

The MediaTek Dimensity 6080 6nm processor ー one of the most powerful chipsets in this price category. It provides a great balance of performance and power efficiency, including during long gaming sessions. 

The 6,000mAh battery will last for more than 11 hours of gaming, 14 hours of video streaming, and 31 hours of calls. When the smartphone’s charge drops to 1%, the charge optimization will allow another 20 minutes of call usage. The POVA 6 Pro 5G is rated for 1.5 days of use on a single charge and can retain at least 80% of its battery capacity after 5 years of use.

The capacious battery is complemented by an ultra-fast 70W charging that can charge the device from zero to 50% in just 20 minutes and to 100% in just 50 minutes. The POVA 6 Pro 5G’s battery capacity allows you to share power with other devices. The 10W cable-assisted reverse charging feature helps you charge wireless headphones, smartwatches, bracelets and other gadgets, including other smartphones.

Large 256GB internal storage and 12GB expandable RAM up to 24GB with Memory Fusion technology will ensure fast and smooth performance of the smartphone. Plus, the smartphone supports up to 1TB of storage expansion with a microSD card slot.

TECNO Universal Tone | Skin Tone Color Chart 

TECNO conducted an international study that resulted in a detailed color chart of skin tones. The brand used internationally recognized skin tone data collection methods and collected 2,838 shades of the color spectrum. By conducting a thorough analysis of the clustering of skin tones, border and intermediate colors in CIELAB space, TECNO created 268 types of skin tone patches based on this extensive database.

The TECNO color map will be used to evaluate the color accuracy of images during and after imaging, and to fine-tune the algorithms of Universal Tone’s multiple skin tone image processing technology, including skin tone restoration and enhancement algorithms. 

Dynamic 1 – TECNO’s first robotic dog

TECNO’s debut robotic dog expands the possibilities of human-machine interaction.

With its powerful 45 N⋅m/kg of torque and sophisticated knee joint cooling system, Dynamic 1 is able to climb stairs, give a paw and other commands. Four AI microphones help the robot dog recognize its voice and make interaction with its owner even more convenient. It can also be controlled via a smartphone app and remote control.

The robot is equipped with AI HyperSense Fusion technology, which is responsible for smooth and natural movements. The Intel® RealSense D430, infrared and optical sensors help Dynamic 1 navigate through space, while an 8-core ARM processor allows it to quickly get back on its feet after falls and reach speeds of up to 3.7 m/s. 

Sixty-four GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 technology and functional backlighting are also responsible for speed and performance. The robot features a power-hungry 15,000 mAh battery that provides up to 90 minutes of battery life, and the modular design helps you quickly swap batteries for uninterrupted Dynamic 1 use.

Pocket Go is an augmented reality gaming kit

Pocket Go ー the industry’s first augmented reality glasses compatible with a Windows-based handheld gaming console. The AR Pocket Vision headset enhances the interaction with the device and brings a new gaming experience.
