Logitech announced the new G522 Lightspeed wireless gaming headset

Gaming accessories brand Logitech G has announced the new Logitech G522 Lightspeed wireless gaming headset to replace the popular Logitech G733 Lightspeed.
The G522 Lightspeed headphones have a redesigned, wider shape and an extra layer of memory foam for improved comfort. They have a lightweight, adjustable fabric headband that’s flatter than its predecessor and has built-in ridges for better cooling.
On the outside of each earcup are four attractive, customizable RGB lighting zones, the color of which can be adjusted using Logitech’s G Hub desktop software. It’s also compatible with the Logitech G mobile app.

The headset features Logitech G’s high-quality 40mm Pro-G drivers with 24-bit / 48kHz signal processing for enhanced audio clarity and detail.
The headset comes with a detachable omnidirectional microphone that delivers an impressive 16-bit/ 48kHz bandwidth. It’s the same microphone found in the excellent but much more expensive Astro A50 X, which in hands-on testing impressed me with its crystal-clear recordings.

An added benefit of the Logitech G522 Lightspeed microphone is its built-in red LED light, which illuminates when you mute it.
As the name suggests, the headset can connect to a PC or PlayStation 5 using the Logitech Lightspeed wireless dongle (which is included), but it also supports traditional Bluetooth for the aforementioned platforms in addition to Nintendo Switch and mobile. There’s also the option to connect to the internet via the USB Type-C connector.

Logitech claims a battery life of up to 40 hours with the default backlight on, or up to 90 hours when it’s turned off, which is a pretty impressive figure. It’s not quite the 200 hours promised by the competing HyperX Cloud III S, but it’s more than enough for a few weeks of intense gaming sessions.

Logitech’s G522 Lightspeed will hit store shelves on June 16 in white and black. It costs $179 USD / £139.99 / AU$299.95, which puts it in the mid-range price range.
His extensive feature set seems very promising, but only time will tell if it becomes one of the best PC gaming headsets or the best PS5 headset in the world.
