Lenovo prepares to release Legion Go 2: updated OLED display, Ryzen Z2 Extreme and new features

Lenovo has been prepping the second generation of its portable gaming PC for months now, and now it’s been revealed that the Legion Go 2 is likely to officially premiere at IFA in the coming days. Massive leaks have surfaced online, fully revealing the device’s design and specs.
According to insider Evan Blass, who gained access to Lenovo’s promotional materials, the Legion Go 2 externally maintains continuity, combining features from the first version and the Legion Go S model. The device has received sharp upper corners of the case and more comfortable curved handles. Controllers now have two menu buttons (up from one), as well as a fingerprint scanner on the top end.
RGB backlighting around the sticks is designed with breaks to form a Legion logo-inspired pattern. Two programmable buttons are retained on each controller, with the right one getting two more for FPS mode. The rear panel features a larger air intake port, and the cooling system has a larger fan.

The main update “under the hood” is AMD’s Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip – it offers more graphics cores and an increased TDP of up to 35W, compared to the past Z1 Extreme. Rumor has it Lenovo may release a more affordable version with the base Ryzen Z2 as well.
The screen has also been updated: it’s now an 8.8-inch 144Hz OLED panel with support for variable refresh rates, while maintaining a 16:10 aspect ratio.
