Google has come up with headphones with the ability to measure heart rate

Google has revealed that headphones equipped with active noise canceling can be equipped with the ability to detect a person’s heart rate, and all it takes is a simple software update.
According to Google, audio plethysmography (APG) allows noise-canceling headphones to track a user’s physiological signals, such as heart rate and heart rate variability, without adding additional sensors or reducing battery life. The advantage of this technology is that it works even when music is playing and when the headphones are not the best sealed.

According to Google, “the ear canal —s an ideal place to determine health status” because the deep auricular artery “forms a complex network of small vessels that extensively permeate the ear canal.”
The company tested APG on 153 people and found that it has consistent accuracy, and the influence of various factors, such as skin tone and ear canal size, is minimal.
