Galaxy Watch 8 will get last year’s Exynos W1000 chip

After the radical redesign of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Samsung plans to incorporate its style into all future smartwatch models. However, despite the visual changes, the “innards” will remain familiar – the Galaxy Watch 8 won’t feature a new processor.
According to data from the One UI 8 Watch firmware discovered by Android Authority, the code mentions three devices codenamed Fresh 8, Fresh 8 Small, and Wise 8. It was previously revealed that these names are behind the Galaxy Watch 8 (in two sizes) and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
According to Android Authority, the codenames are Fresh 8, Fresh 8 Small, and Wise 8.

These devices are linked to the S5E5535 processor, also known as the Exynos W1000 – the same chip that debuted in the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra in 2024.

The Exynos W1000 processor is built using the 3nm process at Samsung Foundry. It features a five-core CPU (one Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55), ARM Mali-G68 MP2 graphics, and 32GB of internal memory.
In terms of performance, it’s noticeably better than its predecessors, with 3.4x performance in single-core tasks and 3.7x performance in multi-core tasks. All of this ensures that the interface and applications on the new watch run fast.
The company typically uses the same chip for two to three generations of devices. So the decision not to change the processor for the Galaxy Watch 8 is pretty much expected.
