Casio unveiled the first G-Shock created with the help of AI

Casio has released a new G-Shock lineup, the MTG-B4000, which is the first in the brand’s history to actively utilize artificial intelligence technology in case design. The watch is already available in Japan and will go on sale in June 2025.
Artificial Intelligence in Design: How the case was created
To develop the MTG-B4000, the company drew on decades of G-Shock shock resistance. That data was fed into the AI, and it came up with the Dual Core Guard design, a hybrid structure of carbon frames and steel parts.
The workflow was as follows: designers created a basic concept, the AI analyzed it and built optimized 3D models. Then the AI would manually refine the result. The cycle would repeat until the right balance between durability and design was achieved.

Body: carbon fiber and steel combination
The carbon fiber frame is made from layers of carbon and fiberglass cut into complex 3D shapes. The weave of the materials is visible at the joints. This frame connects to the metal bezel, side buttons and back cover.
The stainless steel bezel is made in two layers: some elements are mirror polished by Zaratsu, while others receive a matte finish. The back cover is made by Metal Injection Molding, a process in which powdered metal is molded into a specific shape.
Dial with depth and details
The multi-layered dial combines slanted rings with voluminous indices. The indices are multi-faceted, coated with a luminescent compound and metallized. All elements are created using micromechanical machining.

Specifications and Features
The watch measures 56.6 × 45.3 × 14.4 mm and weighs 112 g. The model has passed the Triple G Resist tests to prove resistance to shock, centrifugal force and vibration. It’s water resistant to 20 ATM.
The watch supports Multiband 6 radio synchronization (Japan, North America, Europe, China) and connects to smartphones via Bluetooth using the CASIO WATCHES app. Automatic time adjustment and access to world time for 300 cities are available.
The Tough Solar recharges for up to 5 months without light and up to 18 months in power-saving mode. The sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating and the backlight is a white LED with afterglow effect.
The standard features include world time (27 cities), stopwatch, timer and automatic calendar.
