Campfire Audio have released a new version of their Andromeda Emerald Sea in-canal headphones

Andromeda is still considered by portable audio enthusiasts to be one of the best in-canal headphones in the world, even though it’s been over 5 years since the first generation was released. Improving the already almost perfect headphones is not easy, but it is possible. The manufacturers have added nuance to the sound and updated the technology used.

The Andromeda Emerald Sea each houses five dual-diaphragm armature drivers designed by Campfire Audio for the new model. Two drivers are responsible for the bass, two more for the treble, and one for the midrange. The high frequency drivers are joined by Campfire Audio’s proprietary, specially tuned acoustic chamber, T.A.E.C. The inside of the enclosures are 3D printed.
Warm, lively delivery with realistic stage and high detail is suitable for a variety of music, from jazz and classical to metal and alternative. Detailed treble and a well-crafted midrange open up genres with live instruments and vocals. And detailed and lightly accented bass without mid-bass buzz adds depth and punch to energetic genres. Compared to the original Andromeda, Emerald Sea has smoothed out treble peaks, improved linearity, and reduced distortion to near zero. Years of tried-and-true songwriting are preserved, but improved in detail.
Anodized aluminum enclosures in Andromeda’s signature green color are complemented by stainless steel components. MMCX connectors are made of copper and beryllium. The headphones are reliable and wear-resistant – they won’t scratch or deform. Compared to the previous generation headphones have become more comfortable and versatile – Andromeda Emerald Sea are suitable for monitoring (professional use) and for listening to all genres of music. The recognizable shape and color have been retained, while corners have been smoothed and dimensions reduced.
Campfire Audio Andromeda Emerald Sea come with three cables made of silver-plated copper litz wire. Two balanced cables with 2.5mm and 4.4mm plugs, and one unbalanced cable with a 3.5mm connector. The headphones can be connected to any portable source, from your phone to your Hi-End player. The soft braid and flat shape keep the cables from tangling or kinking.
This set includes 3 pairs of memory foam ear cushions and 3 pairs of silicone ear cushions. The Ocean Jasper green leather case is handmade by Campfire Audio’s longtime partners in Portugal. Also included is a cable organizer pouch. All accessories, including a cleaning brush and stand, are packed in a sturdy and colorful wooden case. Andromeda Emerald Sea is designed and assembled by hand in the USA. This approach gives you complete control over the quality of production, so only tested and true to specification pieces are sold.
