ASUS reveals improved version of ROG Ally handheld set-top box

On ROG Global’s official YouTube channel, ASUS has published a video of the upcoming ROG Ally X gaming console. The new product will be an updated version of the original model with improvements in battery life, user interface, and memory.

According to the announcement, the ROG Ally X will retain the 7-inch VVR display and AMD Z1 Extreme chip, but will get a larger battery, which will increase the device’s runtime. More RAM and a longer slot for the M.2 2280 SSD are also expected.

The company promises changes to the console’s design, including improved repairability through redesigned interchangeable joystick modules. The new Armory Crate SE 1.5 version should bring a cleaner and more intuitive interface.
Users will have more control over the device with home screen customization options and new features including a favorites list for quick access to games and separate tabs for platforms such as Steam, Epic and others.

The ASUS ROG Ally X is scheduled for a full unveiling on June 2. There’s no word on whether the price will increase and whether the original model will remain on sale.
