Alibaba unveiled Quark AI Glasses S1 smart glasses with AI and AR support

Alibaba has officially announced its first fully developed smart glasses, the Quark AI Glasses S1. Sales of the device will start on November 27, and pre-orders are already available on major Chinese online platforms. The novelty is priced at 3,999 yuan (roughly $560).

The Quark S1 glasses are positioned as a wearable AI assistant and support real-time translation, object recognition, first-person video recording and voice interaction. The device runs on Alibaba’s proprietary Qwen artificial intelligence model and provides continuous access to intelligent features.

The design utilizes two Micro LED displays with diffractive lenses, providing up to 2,300 nits of brightness. The user can adjust the distance and height of the display for a comfortable fit. It supports spectacle lenses with diopters from 0 to 800, with refractive indices of 1.6, 1.67 or 1.74. The frame weighs 51g and the 7.5mm ultra-thin temples provide front-to-back balance for comfort.

The system is based on two chips: Snapdragon AR1 is responsible for AR functions, BES BES2800 — for audio. Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6 are supported, and there are five microphones, including a bone microphone, and two 10mm-diameter speakers.

The 109°-angle Sony IMX681 camera takes 4032×3024 resolution photos and records 3K video at 30 fps. It features EIS stabilization, Super Night Mode, and instant capture.

Power is provided by two replaceable 280mAh batteries in the wishbones. Run time is up to 7 hours of active use and 25 hours of standby time. For recharging, three options are available: a 700 mAh MiniBag dock, a 2500 mAh case and a USB-C clip for fast charging — 50% in 10 minutes.

The MiniBag dock has a 700 mAh battery, a 2500 mAh case and a USB-C clip for fast charging — 50% in 10 minutes.

Typical usage scenarios include 45 minutes of calls, 2.5 hours of music, 20 minutes of navigation and 15 short videos. The glasses are IPX4 splash resistant and support Apple’s MFi standard for compatibility with other devices.
