PS5 sales up 200% thanks to sales growth in Europe

Video game and console sales in Europe in August were up year-on-year. According to GSD (via GamesIndustry.biz), some 10.7 million games from triple-A publishers were sold in Europe last month.
That’s up nearly 29% from August 2022, and that’s excluding the popular Baldur’s Gate 3 (since GSD doesn’t receive sales data from publisher Larian). Console sales were also up last month, with hardware sales in Europe up 67% compared to August 2022.

This was thanks to the PS5, which was suffering from stock shortages as recently as last year, but is now shipping in abundance, and yes, there were a number of promotions on it. Compared to August 2022, PS5 hardware sales jumped 197% in August 2023.
