All new Haval crossovers and SUVs will be all-wheel drive vehicles

Chinese automaker Haval has announced a complete shift to all-wheel-drive production. In an interview with Chinese resource Autohome, the company’s technical director Lu Wenbin said that the new models will be equipped exclusively with the Hi4 drivetrain, which provides improved handling, safety and fuel efficiency.

The engineer says the Hi4 three-motor hybrid system (two engines in the front and one in the rear) optimizes weight distribution, reduces fuel consumption and improves dynamic performance. All-wheel drive improves safety and handling by providing better traction on slippery roads and stability when maneuvering and overtaking.
Lu Wenbin also noted that in China, all-wheel drive is traditionally associated with SUVs, but Haval aims to change this perception by demonstrating the versatility of all-wheel drive for all types of roads. At the same time, mono-wheel-drive versions may remain for export markets.
