Thousands of Toyota Land Cruiser and LX 600 recalled in Russia: engines may fail on the move

The official representative of Toyota in Russia has initiated a large-scale service campaign: more than 1,900 Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX 600 SUVs will be sent for unscheduled repairs. The reason was manufacturing defects that could lead to engine failure while driving.

According to Rosstandart, the recall will affect cars manufactured between April 2001 and February 2022. It is specified that during the production process, some engines were left with particles after machining that were not completely removed. This residue could have gotten inside the assembled motor and contaminated it.

The recall will affect vehicles manufactured in April 2001 and February 2022.

If such particles stick to the bearings and the vehicle is used under high loads, there is a risk of bearing failure. This, in turn, can lead to engine malfunctions, noises, sudden stopping or failure to restart. Such malfunctions are a potential safety hazard on the road.

Which models are under recall

The recall affects 1,913 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 and Lexus LX 600 vehicles. The list of VINs falling under the program is published on the official website of Rosstandart. Owners can check for themselves whether their vehicle is on the list by comparing their vehicle’s VIN with the data on the portal.
