Toyota launches bZ5 electric car with a range of up to 630 km

At the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, Toyota unveiled the bZ3C concept with a claimed mileage of 630 kilometers. Now this concept has become a production model – the electric car is named Toyota bZ5 and has already rolled off the assembly line at FAW Toyota’s plant in China.
Toyota opened pre-orders for the model back last month. The starting price is 130,000 yuan (about 16,200 euros). The car will be available in two versions that differ in battery capacity: 65.28 kWh and 73.98 kWh. Both use lithium-iron-phosphate Blade batteries from BYD. Under the CLTC methodology, the younger version is capable of driving up to 550 kilometers, while the older version can travel up to 630 kilometers on a single charge.

The interior of the new bZ5 is noticeably different from Toyota’s usual models. There’s a large 15.6-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and the interior is minimalist with an emphasis on spaciousness and clean lines.
The bZ5 measures 4,780mm in length, making it a direct competitor to the Tesla Model Y. On top of that, the car comes with an impressive array of technology. The Momenta 5.0 autonomous driving system offers more than 30 intelligent features, from city and highway driving assistance to automatic parking.

Toyota has yet to announce plans for a global launch of the model, but it’s clear that the bZ5 is aimed at the mass market and is already poised to challenge popular electric cars in the crossover segment.
