Mazda has unveiled the Iconic SP rotary-powered electric sports car

Mazda has revealed a concept for a new rotary-powered sports car. The Iconic SP concept made its debut at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo.
Iconic SP has a rotary-electric powertrain and is the ideological successor to the RX-7/RX-8. Visually, the sports car builds on the idea of last year’s Vision Study and is similar in size to the MX-5 Miata.

The model has a length of 4,180 millimeters and a wheelbase size of 2,590 mm. The weight is quite modest for a hybrid with a heavy battery pack – just 1,450 kilograms. The declared power of the model is 365 hp. The capacity of the battery and range of the manufacturer did not disclose, but confirmed that the car can be recharged, including from a household electrical outlet. Dynamic characteristics are also unknown.
The Mazda Iconic SP’s interior is minimalist. There is an ascetic digital dashboard and multimedia with a small screen.

There’s no word yet on a commercial release.
