CES 2024: Honda unveils electric cars of the future – Space-Hub and Saloon

Honda unveiled its new Zero line of electric cars at CES 2024, including the Space-Hub concept minivan and Saloon sedan. These two new vehicles stand out for their futuristic design. However, the automaker’s main goal is to release a production version of the smaller concept car in the coming years.

The logo, still representing the letter “H,” has received some changes and will only be used on next-generation vehicles.

As part of the Zero concept, Honda promises to utilize a sporty design inspired by Formula One-inspired styling. In addition, the manufacturer aims to maximize battery efficiency with the e-Axles system, which provides the conversion of electricity into driving power. The cars will also feature a driver assistance system based on the Honda Sensing Level 2 autonomous driving platform.

In addition, Honda plans to integrate more artificial intelligence-based features. This includes collecting data on driver preferences to provide a personalized experience of car customization and suggesting optimal routes.

The Space-Hub minivan has a minimalist design and is highlighted by a huge rectangular-shaped taillight. Inside, there are two rows of two seats facing each other to give passengers a comfortable experience while traveling. It is interesting to note that there is no rear window in the car.

The Saloon sedan has a similar design, but in a sleeker body with a sloping shape. Also of note is the low seating position and minimalist interior. The front seats have integrated screens.

The production version of the car based on the Saloon sedan is planned for 2026. Honda also expects to produce 30 new electric cars by 2030 and sell more than 2 million units. By 2040, the plan is to fully transition to zero-emission vehicle production, and by 2050, to achieve full carbon neutrality across the company’s operations.
