BYD has unveiled the Yangwang U9 Xtreme hypercar
BYD has officially unveiled its most extreme car yet — the Yangwang U9 Xtreme. It is a limited-edition track version built to the limits of the company’s engineering capabilities. Only 30 examples will be produced in total, and each one showcases the ultimate in BYD technology packed with nearly 3,000 horsepower.
The U9 Xtreme’s power output is staggering: the total output of the powertrain is 2,220 kW, equivalent to 2,977 hp. Such potential has allowed the electric car to accelerate to a confirmed 496.22 km/h — nearly half the speed of sound. Equally impressive is the lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife: 6 minutes 59.157 seconds. This automatically makes the U9 one of the fastest cars ever to pass the legendary circuit.

The car is based on an e⁴ all-wheel drive system with four electric motors that provide precise and instant torque distribution to all wheels. The architecture runs on an ultra-high-voltage 1,200-volt platform. As a result, power per ton of mass reaches a staggering 1,217 hp
The DiSus-X active suspension is used for high-speed stabilization. It features an external dual-valve system that separately controls compression and rebound travel, allowing instant changes in suspension height and stiffness at each wheel.
All elements of the car’s exterior are subordinated to aerodynamics. The front end includes a double through-hood and a massive carbon fiber spoiler with lowered end plates. At the sides — extended fenders and an expressive line that transitions to the rear. At the rear — a multi-layered «flake» design above the glass, a large carbon-fiber antifender on legs and a double-deck diffuser.

The U9 comes with 20-inch rims and GitiSport e-GTR2 PRO semi-slicks, developed in conjunction with Giti. These tires are rated for speeds up to 500 km/h and are sized 325/35 ZR20. Brakes — a titanium bracket and an upgraded carbon-ceramic system with increased heat dissipation area.

The power source is —a new track-ready Blade Battery of special design. It has optimized cells, reduced internal resistance and a dual-layer cooling system. The battery is capable of delivering a 30C discharge, which means a huge amount of energy is delivered almost instantly.
