Acura will discontinue the TLX sedan by the end of July 2025

Honda-owned Acura, a premium brand in the North American market, is ending production of the TLX sedan. The last examples will roll off the assembly line by the end of July 2025. After that, the Integra liftback will remain the only passenger car in the lineup.

TLX exits due to falling demand

The TLX sedan has been on the market since 2014 and has gone through two generations in that time. The current generation was introduced in 2020. The model stands out for its sporty design and clever construction: for example, the suspension uses double wishbones instead of the typical MacPherson struts.

The top-of-the-line Type S sedan comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 360 hp and all-wheel drive. Despite the tech features, demand for the TLX has plummeted. In 2023, 16,731 vehicles were sold in the U.S., and in 2024, just 7,478 were sold. By comparison, dealers sold 47,080 cars in 2015.

After the TLX is gone, Acura will have only one passenger car model in its lineup: the Integra liftback, based on the Honda Civic. In recent years, the Integra has consistently outpaced the TLX in sales by a threefold margin.

So Acura’s focus is now on crossovers, with the ADX, RDX, MDX and electric ZDX remaining on sale. This strategy is in line with a general trend in the marketplace – buyer interest is shifting from sedans to SUVs and electric cars.

The Acura will stop producing the TLX sedan by the end of July 2025 was first published on ITZine.ru.
