Proton Mail for Android will get an all-new app in the summer

Swiss company Proton has officially confirmed that it’s working on a reimagined app for both Android and iOS. The goal is to improve speed, stability, and introduce tools that users have long asked for: offline mode, smart search, and automatic email sorting.
What’s new in Proton Mail
The major new features include full offline access. Users will be able to read and write emails without an internet connection – especially important when traveling or in places with unstable connections. Improved search system will allow to find e-mails, attachments and correspondence faster. There’s also a new way to view attachments – everything you receive in one window.
Another important feature is automatic categorization of emails. It’s similar to Gmail’s tabs: emails will be sorted by type (news, notifications, personal, and so on), and there will be tools for unsubscribing and cleaning up your email. The interface will also be more responsive and faster.

Proton isn’t just limited to email – the company has a whole suite of private tools: calendar, cloud storage, password manager, and more. In 2025, they’ll get major upgrades, too. For example, Proton Calendar will be completely redesigned with a focus on offline mode, tasks, and advanced search.
