First One UI 8 leak: the alpha version is already running on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

After the troubled launch of One UI 7, which was remembered for delays and stopping updates due to bugs, Samsung seems to have decided not to repeat previous mistakes. The company is already testing the next version of its shell, One UI 8, and it’s doing so sooner than expected. Thanks to Smartprix, the first images of One UI 8 in the alpha version installed on the yet-to-be-announced Galaxy Z Fold 6 have hit the web.

Despite the early stage of development, One UI 8 looks like a neat continuation of the previous version. Rather than a dramatic redesign, it’s a point-and-click improvement that seems designed to address One UI 7’s shortcomings and integrate fresh Android 16 features.
Unnoticeable but important changes
One of the noticeable changes is the revamped file manager interface: the Categories section has been given a cleaner and more logical structure. The gallery has also changed slightly, hinting at a more user-friendly interaction with content. Samsung’s focus is clearly on tweaking the system apps to improve the user experience without radical redesigns.

In addition, the Now Brief feature is being expanded – it was previously exclusive to the flagship Galaxy S25 lineup, but will now appear on the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 as well. This AI tool analyzes the user’s daily actions and offers personalized tips. While Now Brief doesn’t work flawlessly in the current version, the accuracy and usefulness of the tool is expected to increase as Samsung’s AI evolves.
