Russia has signed a Code of Ethics for the use of artificial intelligence

Russia’s major medical, educational and technological organizations have adopted a Code of Ethics for the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare. The document has already been supported by Sber, Yandex, the Pirogov Center, Sechenov University, the Higher School of Economics, and other industry participants.
The code is designed specifically for the medical sector. It describes the principles of safe use of AI technologies, as well as ways to protect patients’ rights when using new solutions. The document outlines risk assessment requirements for AI systems, measures to ensure patient safety, and general ethical standards that must be followed when developing, testing, and using AI in medicine.
Sergey Zhdanov, managing director of Sberbank’s Health Industry Center, said:
“We are laying down the basic principles for the development of medical artificial intelligence in Russia. It is important for us that such technologies are used ethically and safely in the interests of patients and doctors. Sber is already using AI solutions in medicine: systems for analyzing MRI and CT images, digital assistants for doctors, and telemedicine services. The code will be updated as new tasks and challenges emerge.”
The document was drafted by representatives of the medical community, academic institutions, technology companies and specialized ethics committees.
