All Summer Game Fest 2025 announcements: Resident Evil Requiem, Code Vein 2 and more

Summer really kicked off today, with Summer Game Fest returning in 2025. The video game trade show has only grown over the past few years, filling the void left by the demise of E3. This year’s show tried to live up to high expectations, but it wasn’t nearly as packed as Sony’s excellent show — State of Play earlier this week.
Of course, we got new trailers for upcoming games like Mafia: The Old Country and Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. We were even shown Resident Evil Requiem! However, most of the presentation was dedicated to lesser known games. We saw plenty of Unreal Engine action games from smaller studios, «roguelikes» with a top-down view, and multiplayer shooters with unique features.
Meeting with Hideo Kojima in honor of Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach comes out later this month, so of course Hideo Kojima showed up at Summer Game Fest. Kojima gave an on-stage interview where he talked about the sequel’s design philosophy and shared a new trailer. The trailer showed more information about the two new characters, played by Alyssa Jung and Luca Marinelli, first introduced in South by Southwest. Marinelli’s character is another porter named Neil, who has some sort of secret involving a mark on his arm. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach comes out June 26, and there’s another event on Sunday that will feature gameplay.
Sonic Crossworlds

Sonic Crossworlds has a new trailer that reveals a September 25 release date. But the bigger news is that the game will feature a number of cameo characters, including Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban Kasuga. There will also be some crossover with Minecraft featuring Steve in the game.
Code Vein 2 will be released in 2026

Bandai Namco’s Code Vein will get a sequel. Code Vein 2 received a cinematic debut trailer that tells its time-traveling story set to dramatic music. It also showed a bit of gameplay, which was filled with just the right amount of Dark Souls-style anime action. The game will be released in 2026.
Game of Thrones is getting a major new game

Surprisingly, it took this long, but Game of Thrones is getting a major video game. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros has gotten a cinematic trailer showing Jon Snow battling the White Walker. Not much is known about it yet, but it looks like it will be a bigger-budget project than any other Game of Thrones game to date.
So it looks like it’s going to be a bigger-budgeted project than any other Game of Thrones game to date.
The sequel to Shovel Knight Mina the Hollower has gotten a release date

Indie game fans have been waiting a long time for this news: Mina the Hollower will be released on October 31. The new retro game from Yacht Club Games is a sequel to Shovel Knight, it introduces a brand new character, and the game’s style mimics classic Game Boy titles. A demo version of the game is already available on Steam.
Deadpool VR

Deadpool is the latest superhero to get the VR treatment. Twisted Pixel has announced that its first game under Meta** ownership will be Marvel’s Deadpool VR, a gory first-person game filled with swords and cutscenes. The trailer shows several clips of Deadpool shooting his enemies and ramming them with a car. Marvel’s Deadpool VR will be released later this year for Meta** Quest 3 and 3S.
Dying Light: The Beast is coming out in August

Add another game to the release calendar for the second half of 2025, because Dying Light: The Beast comes out on August 22. To celebrate the news, they showed off a new trailer that features plenty of rooftop parkour, grotesque monsters, and blood.
Resident Evil Requiem reveals after fake announcement

After a strange teaser at the start of the show, Capcom wrapped it up with the official Resident Evil Requiem trailer. The trailer introduced a character named Grace, who is sent to investigate a case that apparently involves the murder of her mother. Things quickly go south from that point on, and the trailer takes us to a ruined Raccoon City. Caley says this is a big shift for the franchise, which has traded survival horror for cinematic action. The game will be released on February 27 and will be available to play at Gamescom later this year.
