It may be the spooky Halloween season, but horror movies — are not the best choice for those who have decided to watch some movie with their young children. Don’t worry, you won’t find any horror movies on this list! But you will find plenty of great family movies and cartoons to help you take a break from all the Halloween mania.
Kung Fu Panda (2008)

One of Paramount’s biggest franchises, “Kung Fu Panda” started way back in 2008 and shows no signs of slowing down: this year saw the release of “Kung Fu Panda 4.” And it doesn’t matter — whether you’re an adult or a kid — the franchise is so cool that everyone loves it. The first movie — does a great job of introducing you to an unlikely option for kung fu hero Po. The Valley of Peace is threatened by the arrival of the snow leopard Tai Lung, and the lazy Po suddenly has the dubious title of “chosen one” thrust upon him. Although he enjoys training with kung fu master Shifu and the legendary “Unstoppable Five,” all this training doesn’t exactly endear him to Po at first.

Migration (2023)

In the movie “Migration,” Mac Mallard is content to keep his family safe and forever floating on a New England pond. But his wife Pam, on the other hand, is not so happy about it. She wants to show the kids the world and go on adventures. This desire is especially acute after a family of migratory ducks tells them exciting stories about their travels. Pam convinces Mac to take a tropical vacation to Jamaica by way of New York. But the migration doesn’t go quite as planned.
Shop Cop (2009)

Sometimes you just need a dumb comedy, and “Shop Cop” is as good as it gets. Paul Blart — a single father working as a security guard at a mall in New Jersey to make ends meet and feed his small family. No one takes him seriously, but that doesn’t stop him from considering himself a real authority that everyone should listen to. And when as a result of a robbery the mall closes, he finally gets a chance to prove that he is a real security guard and worth something.
Field of Dreams (1989)

The classic sports movie Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner as Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella, who is troubled by a voice telling him, “If you build it, it will come.” Interpreting this dream, Ray decides to turn his ordinary cornfield into an extraordinary baseball field. Soon, great baseball legends of the past emerge from the corn to play ball on this dream-inspired field. The movie turns out to be incredible and very uplifting.

The Minions (2015)

There doesn’t seem to be a critical mass of popularity for Minions, and Universal keeps releasing movies. But if you go back to the franchise’s origins, the Minions first appeared in the “Ugly I” cartoon about the villain Gru. But in the beginning, before meeting Gru, they went from host to host, and always failed to keep them around for long. When minion Kevin, along with teenage rebel Stuart and baby Bob, go in search of a new master they can keep forever, they stumble upon the world’s first female supervillain, Scarlet Overkill. And now they’ll have to not only serve, but save the entire Minion race from annihilation.
Matilda (1996)

The movie “Matilda” is based on Roald Dahl’s classic novel. In it, Mara Wilson plays the role of an enchantress. Matilda — is a genius and is kind to everyone she meets. Unfortunately, her parents — are the worst people in the world who refuse to let her go to school. When they finally relent and send her to school, it is only because she will be under the guidance of the overbearing principal Trunchbull. The kind Miss Honey proves to be a wonderful mentor, encouraging Matilda’s genius, unlocking her magical abilities, and helping Matilda lead a revolution against Trunchbull.

Benji (2018)

The remake of the classic tale of the hero dog — is a heartwarming and fun adventure for the whole family. Brother and sister Carter and Frankie struggle to hold on to their family, which is falling apart at the seams. The only one who helps them is Benji, a stray dog the kids decide to befriend. But when they get into a dangerous situation, Benji has to come to the rescue.
The Willoughby Family (2020)

Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Alessia Cara, Terry Crews, Martin Short, Jane Krakowski, Sean Cullen and Ricky Gervais voice this computer-animated movie based on Lois Lowry’s book of the same name. The cartoon is about the Willoughby family, two neglectful parents, and their unique children who try to survive on their own until a mysterious nanny shows up. Despite the supposedly sad plot about orphaned children with bad parents, critics liked the movie, noting that it’s quite funny and evokes real and genuine emotion.
