Believe it or not, it’s been over a decade since the last GTA game was released. While plenty of people are still spending hundreds of hours playing GTA Online, many are patiently continuing to wait for Rockstar to finally confirm that a new installment is in development. Despite numerous leaks and rumors, the team held off until the end of 2023. Now that the game has finally been confirmed, we have much more to say about what Grand Theft Auto 6 will offer. GTA 6 trailer

The GTA 6 trailer was announced for release on December 5, 2023, but after a leak online, it was taken down a day early. Nevertheless, we now have our first look at the world and characters.

The main characters will be in pairs, not singles or trios as in past games. The first will be Lucia, who probably has a criminal past judging by the fact that she appeared in a prison uniform in the trailer. The second character — is a man whose name is not yet known, but he is clearly her partner in crime — and this appears to extend to their personal lives as well.

Perhaps the most important part of any GTA game — is the setting, and in this new installment Rockstar takes us back to Vice City. Of course, this time we will see it in the modern world, not in the late 1980s as before. GTA 6 platforms

It’s officially confirmed that the game will only be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. While we can safely say that the game won’t be released on last-gen consoles or Switch, its absence on PC seems like a strange omission. GTA 5 came out on PC two years later and Red Dead Redemption 2 — just two weeks later, so it’s entirely possible that the PC release will come a little later, but it would still be a big disappointment for players.

Gameplay

The trailer didn’t show any actual gameplay, instead it was all cinematic.

Let’s face it, the game will feature a lot of shooting, driving, and crime. The trailer showed robberies, high-speed chases and lots of partying. Beyond that, however, we’re left to speculate or rely on very old leaks. We believe that GTA 6 will continue the trend of allowing players to switch between first and third-person view. Such a feature was added in GTA 5 and included in Red Dead Redemption 2 at launch.

Based on the trailer, the amount of characters and action on screen at any given time means the world will be denser than ever. Each NPC looks unique and seems very «alive» when interacting with the world. Beyond shooting and running over, we hope to see a lot more ways to interact with regular NPCs.

In such a huge world, there are tons of side activities, mini-games, and other fun things to pass the hours over. Every game is getting more and more interesting in terms of extra features, and we don’t think GTA 6 is going to let up on that.

Bearing in mind how successful GTA Online has become, it’s unlikely that Rockstar will abandon the multiplayer feature in the next installment.

The big question is whether the new GTA Online will be available immediately after launch or will be released in several phases. The first version came out almost a month after GTA 5, and Red Dead Online — even longer, almost seven months later. We do not expect the sixth installment of the series to wait that long, but Rockstar may want to give players a few weeks for the main game before showing them the possibilities of the network mode.
