Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: release window, teaser and more

There were fears that the franchise would miss a year for the first time in a decade, but rumors and leaks have pretty much confirmed that we’ll be getting another Call of Duty game this year as planned. Now there is confirmation that it will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, but nothing else. In fact, all the rumors and leaks we’re going to talk about are no longer true, or maybe they were never true in the first place. Nevertheless, many of them have credible sources, so it’s worth at least taking a look at them. The next Call of Duty is expected to be officially announced in the coming months. For now, that’s all we think we know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
All we know about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Release Date Window
Call of Duty has never missed a fall release. Even when the odds were stacked against it, the developers would introduce a new game. So there’s every reason to believe that a new installment in the franchise will be released in the fall this year. It’s usually October or November.
Platforms
.
Despite being bought by Activision for Xbox, Call of Duty won’t be an Xbox exclusive anytime soon. It’s unclear if it will be another cross-generational game, as last year’s Modern Warfare 3 came out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The only thing we can say with certainty is that the game will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Trailers
Unfortunately, nothing official was shown for this game.
According to Windows Central, which spoke to sources familiar with the matter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be set during the titular conflict between the U.S. and Iraq and will feature a mix of traditional large-scale battles with the more tactical and espionage missions that the Black Ops games are known for.
While these aren’t exactly trailers, a new site called The Truth Lies has been discovered that teases the new Black Ops game with some cryptic videos. The site shows an old TV with six channels that can be switched, but at the time of this article, there are only videos on four. One shows a group sneaking up Mount Rushmore at night to blindfold a monument that reads «The Truth Lies» and a mysterious logo.

Another video appears to show another group putting up posters of Mount Rushmore with the same blindfold and «Truth Lies» message as the first.
We can assume a few more channels will be added to this story ahead of the official announcement.
Gameplay
Once again, there’s nothing official here, but there are plenty of leaks and rumors. The most notable and credible one comes from Insider Gaming and suggests that Black Ops 6 will feature an open-world campaign. Modern Warfare 3 already utilized open-world missions, so this seems like a logical evolution of that design. The report states that the gameplay will consist of the player and his squad exploring a map somewhat reminiscent of Far Cry, where vehicles and fast travel systems can be used to move around the map. Finally, for fans of the franchise, Adler will apparently be returning in this installment.

It’s also noted that the game will include linear missions, so the formula won’t be completely overhauled, judging by this post.
Zombies will be back, too, of course, and will revert to a more traditional circular structure.
Pre-order
Pre-order details are not yet available, but you can expect at least three different editions with various bonuses and add-ons to be released after the game is announced.
