Modern Warfare 3 Zombies: MWZ Guide

The zombie mode in Modern Warfare 3 has been significantly changed. It was originally introduced as a cooperative mode, where players and their team of four would gain energy and expand the map while trying to progress through a complex story with secrets. Now it has become something more — a mix of zombies and the new DMZ mode that was introduced in the last version of the game.
Modern Warfare 3’s cooperative mode is now something more.
Modern Warfare 3 has brought back familiar elements that are familiar to veterans of the Zombies mode. Perk-A-Cola and mysterious crates, for example. However, the old tactics don’t work here. Surviving Zombie Mode — is a whole new experience in Modern Warfare 3, but with these tips and tricks, you’ll be able to tackle the new threats and challenges.

What makes Zombies in Modern Warfare 3 different from previous installments?”
.
Before discussing the details of the zombie mode, it’s important to understand how it works. It’s very different from previous versions. MWZ is a mixture of DMZ mode and zombies on a map. You and your two-player team enter the open Urzikstan map along with eight other three-player groups.
At the end of the game, you and your team of two players enter the open Urzikstan map along with eight other three-player groups.

In MWZ mode, you don’t face other players. There is no “winning” here — your task is — to gather resources and survive. Zombies will be encountered on the map, as well as PMC squads, which make the task more difficult.
The last important tip before you start playing MWZ: you have a timer. Each session is limited to one hour. If you don’t have time to collect resources or die, you will be destroyed and all achievements will be lost.

The principle of how lodouts work in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies
.
The Zombies mode utilizes unique sets of weapons and equipment. This is due to the fact that you face special threats and the task — not just to fight other players, but also to perform certain tasks. Therefore, you will need to customize your gear and weapons accordingly.
When you first enter Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, you will have access to various weapons called “Smuggler Weapons” with attachments that cannot be changed. There will also be slots for equipment, field upgrades and items you get during a match. Items — are things like Perk-A-Cola and Killstreak. You can use them right away or try to retrieve them for future use.
And you can use them in a match.

“Insurance Weapons” — are weapons that you collect during a match or obtain in other modes of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and can customize as you see fit. Unlike regular weapons, insurance weapons are not lost when you die in combat, but they do have a cooldown timer before the next use. Only one insurance weapon slot is available at the beginning of the game, but you can get two more slots over time.
Close contracts to get bonuses and weapon upgrades
While playing Modern Warfare 3 Zombies, the main goal — to collect as much “essence” as possible. “Essence” — is a currency that can be used to buy most items that cannot be obtained in the game. For example, wall weapons, bonus items and weapon upgrades. Although killing zombies brings a small amount of “essence”, you should contract as soon as possible to buy improvements and power-ups.
And you can’t get more “essence” than you can get in the game.
Contracts are located on the map and require activation. After completing one or two contracts, go to the nearest station perk or weapon upgrade on the map to spend your earnings.

Focus on completing tasks
Quests — are analogous to the zombie faction quests from DMZ mode. They should be the primary objective. The quests are tiered — you can only do one quest at a time. The quests get progressively harder as you complete them. Each act is broken down into levels that unlock the next act. Also, for completing acts, you get cosmetic items and sometimes permanent upgrades, such as extra slots for insurance weapons and roomier backpacks.

Monitor your threat level and get out while you can
.
When you land, open the map and look at the areas colored in different colors. Areas with no color are considered low threat, areas of yellow — medium threat, and the small red spot in the center of the map — high threat. Obviously, the color of an area determines how strong the zombies in that area will be in terms of damage dealt and damage received, as well as what types of zombies can be encountered there.
The further you progress, the more special zombies and zombie bosses appear, but you get quality rewards and loot for the increased danger. So don’t try to head straight to the red zone in hopes of surviving. Instead, progress gradually towards the red zone by completing contracts and getting better equipment.

And finally, there will come a time when you need to leave the zone while you can. After a certain amount of time, three evacuation zones randomly appear on the map. You can go to one of these zones and call a helicopter for evacuation. Do not wait until you are on the verge of death — calling the helicopter leads to a massive zombie attack on your position. You need to survive until the helicopter arrives.
The helicopter waits only 45 seconds before taking off, with or without you. It will then take another 60 seconds to summon the next helicopter. Fortunately, you can call the helicopter as many times as you like until the red zone starts to expand and reaches the evacuation zone.
