Skype has received a major update

Microsoft has opened up access to the updated Skype in beta testing. The messenger has an improved user interface, new camera features for Android devices, and a number of other improvements.

The Skype 8.106.76.206 version for members of the Skype Insider program differs from the current stable version with an updated call screen. Some of the biggest changes include:

  • Improved layout and controls;
  • Intuitive focus mode;
  • Consistency of light/dark theme;
  • Under-the-hood repair (code cleaning);
  • Simplified access to functions;

The Android update has updated the camera features, making it “more stable and smoother”. It also adds new filters for taking selfies and the ability to scan a QR code to quickly join chats or sign in to an account.

Microsoft has also introduced AI-powered Bing into Skype conversations, which you can chat with like a full-fledged conversation partner. At the same time, they’ve fixed a few bugs, including faster app loading on Android and glitches when switching apps during a conversation on iOS devices.

To try out the new Skype features, you’ll need to sign up for the Skype Insider program. The developers have not yet announced a release date for the patch.
