Casio unveiled the luxurious G-Shock MRG-B2100D-2A, inspired by a Japanese pagoda

Casio expands its premium G-Shock lineup with the introduction of the new MRG-B2100D-2A. The watch belongs to the high-end MR-G series and builds on the recognizable design of the 2100 line, combining it with traditional Japanese motifs and advanced materials.

The inspiration for the new product comes from the five-story pagoda on Mount Haguro in Yamagata Prefecture. Notably, the location is not far from Casio’s «parent factory» where the MR-G series watches are made. The pagoda itself was built as early as the 10th century and was designated a Japanese national treasure in the 1960s.

Casio notes that the deep indigo color of the dial conveys the image of the pagoda shrouded in morning mist at dawn. This shade of blue, traditionally known as hanada-iro, changes its perception depending on the light and angle of view.

Like other MR-G models based on the 2100 design, the MRG-B2100D-2A retains its signature octagonal case shape. The dial is decorated with a pattern inspired by the kigumi technique — a traditional Japanese method of joining wooden elements without nails. This makes the surface look layered and three-dimensional rather than flat.

In terms of materials, the model fully lives up to the MR-G’s flagship status. The case and bezel are made of Ti64 titanium alloy, while the top of the bezel is made of Cobarion, a material known for its exceptional hardness and mirror-like shine. The bracelet is made of DAT55G alloy and the entire construction is coated with titanium carbide for increased scratch resistance.

The case dimensions are 49.5 × 44.4 × 13.6 mm and the watch weighs — 122 grams.

Functionally, the MRG-B2100D-2A offers the full range of features expected from Casio at this level. The watch supports Tough Solar charging, Multi-Band 6 radio synchronization, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, automatic calendar, date and day display, and LED backlighting.
