Huawei Mate 80 could get 20GB of RAM
The Huawei Mate 80 lineup is slowly approaching its debut, and new leaks continue to reveal possible specs for the series. Fresh data from China claims that the Mate 80 smartphones could come out with a record 20GB of RAM — a figure that has so far been out of reach for mainstream flagships. By comparison, most of today’s top Android smartphones, including gaming smartphones, offer between 12GB and 16GB of RAM.

The devices are expected to be powered by the new Kirin 9030 processor. Details about the chip are still scarce, but it should be an improvement over last year’s flagship Kirin. The lineup will consist of four models: the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Master Edition.

According to MyDrivers, the Mate 80 Pro Max could replace the Pro+ version, and this replacement won’t just be a formal one. The new model should be noticeably more different from the regular Pro, though there are no specifics yet.
Rumors also claim that Huawei is testing a built-in active cooling fan for the Mate 80 series — a rare solution for smartphones outside of the gaming category.
One of the confirmed improvements will be support for 3D facial recognition across all models. Previously, Huawei only offered this technology in top-end versions, but now it will also appear in the base Mate 80 for the first time. In addition, the devices will get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a new camera with a red maple color scheme design.
Preliminary information suggests that the Mate 80 series will be unveiled on November 25. However, any leaks before the official announcement should be taken with caution.
