SwitchBot unveiled an AI-enabled smart photo frame with E-Ink display

Artificial intelligence continues to infiltrate more and more areas, and now — even home interiors. SwitchBot, a company known for its «smart home» devices and funny household robots in the form of stuffed toys, has unveiled an unusual new product — a digital photo frame with artificial intelligence elements called AI Art Frame.
The novelty was first shown at IFA 2025 in Berlin. Unlike conventional photo frames, the AI Art Frame features an E-Ink Spectra 6 color display with a paper-like texture and rich hues that make photos look like real posters.
The main feature of the device — the ability to create custom images using AI. Through the SwitchBot app, users can interact with the Gemini language model (specifically the Nano Banana feature) via API to generate new images, modify existing ones, or combine them using the Remix feature. Finished images can be synchronized with the framework wirelessly.
Users are given a 30-day trial period, during which up to 400 images can be created for free. After that, a subscription costs $3.99 per month. However, if you want, you can use Gemini separately by creating images in a private space and uploading them manually.
The photo frame can store up to 10 images and switch them automatically. If you change images once a week, the 2000mAh battery will last about two years without recharging. If you change images more frequently, the battery will drain faster. The frame is compatible with IKEA’s RÖDALM metal frames.
AI Art Frame is available in three sizes: 7.3 inches, 13.3 inches and 31.5 inches. Pricing starts at $149 for the junior model and goes up to $1,299 for the senior model. You can order the new product at the official SwitchBot website.
