You can now buy digital gift cards on the Play Store

Google has added a new feature to the Play Store — users can now purchase digital gift cards right in the app. The profile menu now includes a section «Gift Cards» located between «Payments & Subscriptions» and «Play Protect». It features a list with popular brands, including Google Play, with denominations ranging from $15 to $100. Cards are available for the categories «Retail», «Fashion», «Beauty», «Food», «Entertainment», «Home», «Travel» and «Electronics». When selecting a card, you can specify the design and amount, as well as enter the recipient’s e-mail address and add a congratulatory message. The recipient will receive a link to the card by mail or SMS. Integration is implemented in conjunction with Blackhawk Network. The cards will appear in search, special selections and personalized offers in the Play Store. «Users can now find, buy and send gift cards right in the Play Store without switching between apps and websites. It’s a convenient way for brands to connect with customers in a trusted environment» — said Fernanda Murphy, head of retail and payment marketing at Google Play.
