The Galaxy S26 Ultra could get 60W charging – a record for Samsung

According to a leak, the flagship smartphone Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected in 2026, could get support for fast charging with up to 60W. That would be the highest in Samsung’s lineup and a notable step up from the current 45W in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Leak discovered in One UI 8.5 firmware

The charging information comes courtesy of an X (former Twitter) user under the nickname @erenylmaz075, who found the relevant lines in a test build of the One UI 8.5 shell. SamMobile’s source confirms: Samsung is indeed testing faster charging for the upcoming flagship.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra may get a redesigned design and an improved camera, in addition to charging. Details are still scarce, but the device is being positioned as an iterative but significant update in the series.

Samsung accelerates, but stays behind the competition

While 60W is a record figure for Samsung, in the context of the global market, it’s still not a leadership level. The OnePlus 13, for example, already offers 80W charging, while devices from Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi outside the US reach 100W and above.

For the US, 60W will be among the fastest at release, but for many users – especially in Asia – it’s still “average”. Samsung probably prefers to play it safe in the wake of the Galaxy Note 7’s overheating battery scandal, the fallout from which is still affecting brand policy.

New batteries could change everything

Insiders note that smartphones may soon feature silicon-carbon batteries, which would provide faster charging with fewer risks. It’s possible that Samsung is preparing such technology for the release of the S26 or subsequent models.

Despite criticism for conservative updates, Samsung’s flagship smartphones continue to break sales records. So even if the Galaxy S26 Ultra doesn’t bring a revolution, improvements to charging and camera may be just what users need.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s new features include a new charging system and a new camera.
