Spotify expands audiobook access for Premium subscribers

Streaming music service Spotify has announced the launch of two new subscription options that expand access to audiobooks. The new «Audiobooks+» and «Audiobooks+ for plan members» are already available to Premium subscribers in a number of countries.

The main features of the new options:
- Audiobooks+
- Adds 15 additional hours of listening time to the base 15 hours
- Available for individual subscribers, Duo and Family members
- Total monthly limit increases to 30 hours
- Audiobooks+ for plan members
- Allows members of group subscriptions to request additional hours
- Account manager can purchase add-ons for individual members
- One-time 10-hour packages are available when the limit is exhausted
The new options are already live in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and several European countries (Germany, France, Benelux countries). After successful testing in Ireland and Canada, Spotify plans to expand into the U.S. market.
The move continues Spotify’s strategy to grow its audiobook ecosystem. The service was already launching a separate pricing plan for audiobook lovers in the US in 2024. The new options offer more flexibility for existing Premium subscribers, allowing them to customize access to audiobooks without changing the basic plan.
The company says these changes will help support the publishing industry and better meet the needs of book lovers. Meanwhile, Spotify continues to work on other user requests, including the long-awaited HiFi format for fans of high-quality audio.
