Dying Light game developers have canceled the launch of two new projects

Polish developer Techland has reported losses of 130 million zlotys (approximately $37.3 million), according to Polish publication Puls Biznesu. The losses are attributed to the company’s decision to stop work on two projects.
In 2022, Techland announced that it was developing a new open-world fantasy RPG. Details about the project were scarce, but the company said it was forming a new team that included veterans of the RPG genre.
A few details about the project were available, but the company said it was forming a new team that included veterans of the RPG genre.
This team includes former CD Projekt Red employees, including open-world director Bartosz Ochman (Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt), narrative director Karolina Stachyra (The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3) and lead screenwriter Arkadiusz Borowik (The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3).

In 2023, Techland CEO Pavel Marchewka said, “Our open-world fantasy RPG is already evolving into something really special. We’re committed to making sure this game lives up to expectations.”
Earlier this year, Techland also announced a sequel to the Dying Light franchise with several new projects. Now, however, it remains unclear which ones will be continued.
The studio’s last release was Dying Light 2: Stay Human, released in 2022. The game received positive reviews and posted strong sales, selling five million copies in its first month.
The company’s next project will be Dying Light: The Beast, due out this summer. Originally announced in August as an add-on to Dying Light 2, it eventually grew into a standalone game. According to Techland, “After two years of work, the scope and scale of the project has changed so much that it has become a standalone, complete experience.”
