Vivo is preparing to release a new foldable model, the X Fold5, which will be the successor to the X Fold3, which was released in March. Despite the omission of the “4” in the name, the new model promises to be a significant step forward in terms of design and specs.

In a recent video, vivo revealed that the X Fold5 is lighter than the previous model, weighing in at just 219 grams. Now a brand representative has published photos comparing the thickness of the X Fold5 to the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. The photos show that when unfolded, vivo’s foldable smartphone is thinner than Apple’s flagship, but when folded, it’s only slightly thicker.

This is especially impressive considering the iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.3mm thick, while the X Fold3 was 10.2mm thick when folded. So the X Fold5 is both thinner and lighter than its predecessor.

According to insiders, the X Fold5 will get a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. A 6,000mAh battery with support for fast charging is also expected to deliver 90W of power over cable and 30W wirelessly.
