MSI Claw 8 AI+ is even faster with new Intel driver

MSI Claw 8 AI+ is already recognized as the best-performing portable Windows device on the market, but now it’s getting another major power boost. Intel has released a fresh version of the driver for the integrated graphics driver for Arc based on Lunar Lake chips, and the update brings impressive performance gains.
According to Intel, you can expect an average of 10 percent higher FPS and up to 25 percent better performance at the 99th percentile of frames in games — one of the most notable jumps achieved by the driver update alone.

Updated Arc graphics unlocks Lunar Lake’s potential
It was the MSI Claw 8 AI+ that was used in Intel’s testing, tuned to a manual power profile of 17W. The results were compelling, with a few frame gains in demanding games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy, but less demanding projects like Fortnite and Payday 3 saw significant improvements.

Even in games where the average FPS hasn’t changed much, the improvements are noticeable in frame stability – the 99th percentile has increased significantly. God of War Ragnarok is a good example: while the average hasn’t changed much, the minimum drops are less frequent.
The new driver is available, but not yet for everyone
The driver update can be installed via Intel Graphics proprietary software (starting with version 32.0.101.6734). For now, it’s only for the Claw 8 AI+ and Claw 7 AI+ models, but support will come to other devices with Lunar Lake chips in the coming months. Intel emphasizes that driver activation will be done in stages through hardware manufacturers.

It’s interesting that Intel’s graphics software, which started out raw and unstable, is now showing maturity. Recent successes, including the launch of the Arc B580 for PCs, prove that the company is making steady progress. After fixing major bugs, the developers have turned their attention to optimization, and it’s bearing fruit. This time around, the focus has been on power management, and judging by the 17W power limit used in the tests, Intel has struck a good balance between performance and power savings.
