BMW 3 Series celebrates 50 years and launches limited edition version for China

BMW has unveiled a special version of the 3 Series to mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary model. It made its debut in China, the first market where the 50 Years Edition is available. The limited edition BMW 3 Series offers two wheelbase options and a choice between a gasoline engine and an electric vehicle. Although the car looks similar to the global G20 in appearance, it features exclusive elements.

Exterior: modest anniversary chic

The main feature is the 19-inch wheels designed specifically for this model. The “50 Jahre” logo is emblazoned on the body pillars, while in the interior the front headrests are embossed with the number “3”. The color scheme includes matte Frozen Pure Grey and deep Thunder Night, shades not previously available in China.

Interior: premium materials and novelties for the market

For the first time for the Chinese market, the 3 Series gets a combination of alcantara and Sensatec faux leather trim. Another detail is the red marker at 12 o’clock on the alcantara-wrapped steering wheel. These elements emphasize exclusivity while maintaining BMW’s understated style.

• 330i and 330Li (with extended wheelbase) with a 2.0-liter turbo engine (245 hp, 400 Nm). Acceleration to 100 km/h – 6.3 sec. Both are rear-wheel drive, with an 8-speed automatic.
• i3 eDrive40L – an electric car based on the long-wheelbase version (G28) with a motor with 340 hp and 430 Nm. Accelerates to the “hundred” in 5.6 seconds, and the range on the CLTC cycle – 592 km (real indicators will be more modest).

Limit of production: 1,000 units for the 330i, 1,400 for the 330Li, and just 100 for the electric car.

China is becoming a key market for BMW, and the 50 Years Edition emphasizes this. Exclusive details and a limited edition make the model desirable for collectors. At the same time, the electric car i3 eDrive40L reminds us that the name “i3” is experiencing a second birth – in 2026, a global version of the sedan will be launched on the platform of the Neue Klasse Neue Klasse and an extended version will be prepared for China.
