iOS 18.4: Apple introduced AI analysis of App Store reviews

Apple continues to incorporate artificial intelligence into its services. iOS 18.4, which is now in public beta, will introduce automated AI analysis of reviews in the App Store.
How does it work?
Apple Intelligence, the company’s proprietary AI, will generate short reviews based on user feedback. The algorithm:
- Collects highlights from reviews,
- Formulates concise text,
- Updates the summary weekly (if the app has enough reviews).
AI-Reviews is available only in the U.S. in English for now, but Apple plans to expand it to other regions and languages within the year
Risks and Possible Problems
Although the feature may simplify app selection, it carries potential risks:
- Fraudulent reviews: Developers can twist the rating to make an AI review appear positive.
- Loss of detail: Users can miss important negative comments if they rely only on AI review.
Apple claims that AI will be able to recognize and account for negative reviews, but the effectiveness of this system is still in question.
Apple is not the first in this direction
Other tech giants are already using AI review analysis:
- Amazon introduced AI-based product reviews as early as 2023
- Google Gemini AI analyzes product reviews and even Google Maps data
When to wait for release?
AI reviews are already available to beta testers of iOS 18.4 beta 2, with public release coming in April 2025
Other new features in iOS 18.4
Besides AI analyzing reviews, the update will introduce:
- Support for Apple Intelligence in Europe,
- Visual Intelligence for iPhone 15 Pro,
- New Siri settings in Control Center,
- AI sorting of notifications by priority
Conclusion
AI reviews in the App Store may accelerate the app selection process, but they increase the problem of fake reviews. Apple will have to closely monitor the system to keep it unbiased.
Apple will have to tighten the system to keep it objective.
