Steam warns users about lack of updates for games in early access

Steam has started notifying users if an Early Access game hasn’t been updated for an extended period of time.
Steam has started notifying users if a game in Early Access hasn’t been updated for an extended period of time.
How the alert works
According to SteamDB, the notification system will display a message that reads, “Note: The last developer update was over 13 months ago. The information and timelines described by the developers here may be outdated.”
It’s expected that such warnings will appear for games that haven’t received an update in over a year. Notably, popular projects like Hades 2 don’t have this notice. Similarly, much older games in early access also don’t seem to be subject to such a notification.
Refund Questions
Although Steam offers one of the most flexible refund systems among major digital retailers, there are still no mechanisms in place to compensate for abandoned games.
Players can get a full refund if they’ve spent no more than two hours playing the game. In exceptional cases, such as severe performance issues, individualized refund decisions are possible.

Early Access Cautions
Since the program’s launch, Steam has been warning users about the risks of early access: “Early Access games are not finalized and are subject to change. If you’re not satisfied with the current version of a game, it’s best to wait for further development progress.”
