Capcom has officially announced the end of support for Resident Evil Re:Verse, the multiplayer game that came bundled with Resident Evil Village.

Game removal and discontinuation timeline

The game will be removed from online stores as early as March 3. On the same day, additional content (DLC) for the game will also become unavailable for download.

The complete shutdown of the game’s servers is scheduled for June 29th. After that date, Resident Evil Re:Verse will no longer be included with digital copies of Resident Evil Village. Even so, users will be able to re-download the app, but it will no longer be playable.

Capcom’s announcement and reasons for discontinuation

On the official Resident Evil series blog, the company noted that the game was created for the franchise’s 25th anniversary and received a much warmer response than expected.

“Now that the series has reached a new point in its development, we believe Resident Evil Re:Verse has fulfilled its original purpose as an anniversary project,” Capcom officials said.

The Future of the Resident Evil Series

The main game Resident Evil Village was released in 2021 and was the eighth installment of the iconic franchise. A new numbered installment in the series is rumored to be announced soon, as well as continued remakes of classic games.
