Nikon has officially announced the Coolpix P1100, the successor to its legendary P1000 camera. It retains the incredible 125x optical zoom, but has a number of improvements that make it even more versatile and user-friendly.

With a focal length of 24-3000mm (35mm equivalent), the camera delivers unique detail to even the most distant subjects. If that’s not enough, digital zoom allows you to reach 12000mm equivalent, although use of this feature may compromise image quality.

Stabilization and new shooting modes

TheCoolpix P1100 features Dual Detect Optical VR technology, which compensates for vibrations for sharper shots. Nikon has added a dedicated bird-watching mode, as well as a fireworks shooting function that reduces the risk of overexposure at slow shutter speeds.
