Google Photos gets an update to filter content from third-party apps

Tired of the endless memes and “Good Morning” messages? Then this Google Photos update is for you. The app now lets you hide unwanted content from third-party sources, making your gallery browsing more streamlined.

Here’s an update to Google Photos.

New setting to filter content

The Google Photos menu previously included grid personalization options for grouping similar photos and changing the layout. Now the “Show content from other apps” option has been added to those features. It lets you hide all saved images from sources like Gmail, WhatsApp, Messenger, Slack, and others.

These options are now available in the Google Photos menu.

Flexible filtering settings

In the new setting, you can activate the “Hide unnecessary data from other apps” option, which will automatically remove screenshots, GIFs and memes from view.

In addition, through the “Customize by app” setting, users can decide whether to hide all media from a particular app, show it in its entirety, or only filter out unwanted files.

With the “Customize by app” setting, users can also decide whether to hide all media from a particular app, show it in its entirety, or only filter out unwanted files.

When Available

The update is rolling out with version 7.14.0.720276279 of the app. The new feature is already making Google Photos more convenient for those who only want to see valuable moments in the gallery.
