Asus Zenfone 10 is officially unveiled, and it brings several important improvements over its predecessor.

It all starts with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 16GB of RAM, which offers 15% faster computing, 20% better gaming performance and, perhaps most importantly —15% more efficiency.

This is what allows the Zenfone 10 to boost its 4,300mAh battery endurance by nearly 13%. One of the main complaints about the Zenfone 9 was the lack of wireless charging, and Asus fixed that in the 10 by adding support for 15-watt Qi charging. There seems to be no change in the wired 30-watt HyperCharge.

The front still features a 5.9-inch AMOLED display with 1080×2400 resolution, but its refresh rate has been increased to 144Hz. The highest refresh rate is reserved for gaming, so for the most part, you get the same sub-6-inch display at 120 Hz. This allows the Zenfone 10 to remain in the very exclusive club of compact flagship phones on the market.

The display is DCI-P3-calibrated, has Delta-E color accuracy below 1, a peak brightness of 1100 nits and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Asus has redesigned the back panel slightly, although it still contains the nameplate like the Zenfone 9. The company also added two new colors — Eclipse Red and Aurora Green — to the Midnight Black, Comet White and Starry Blue palette.

Cameras have changed, too, with a 50MP 1/1.56-inch main module with a 24mm f/1.9 lens updated with second-generation 6-axis hybrid Gimbal stabilization. There’s also a 12MP ultrashic and a 32MP selfie camera. Both of these cameras have lost their autofocus, but Asus promises that the new camera has significantly improved night mode shooting.

The gimbal on which the main camera is attached should be quite impressive, considering how stable the Zenfone 9 was. The system detects camera shake using a gyroscope, which then activates electronic image stabilization combined with optical stabilization to shift the image slightly, resulting in an overall stable shot.

The camera’s gimbal is not a bad thing.

Adaptive EIS selects the optimal field of view based on the shot, and can further frame the image for the best stability, if necessary.

Zenfone 10 uses the gimbal to activate Light Trail mode, which lets you shoot road tracks, light graffiti, long exposure waterfalls and people in motion — all from your hand.

Asus Zenfone 10 comes in an eco-friendly box made without glue, using recycled paper and soy ink. Inside is the Zenfone 10, a USB-C cable, a 30W charger, and a case.

Asus is offering the Zenfone 10 on its website and through retail partners starting today, priced from 799 euros for the base 8/128GB version. Doubling the storage increases the price to 849 euros, and the 16/256GB model will cost 929 euros. A 16/512GB model will also be released, but its price has not yet been confirmed.
